Academic Conference for Afghanistan
(Crisis and the Future )
The Scientific–Analytical Conference titled “Crisis and the Future of Afghanistan” is organized by the Canadian North Academy within the framework of its academic and social responsibility.
The primary objective of this conference is to establish a legitimate, structured and academically grounded platform to examine the current situation in Afghanistan, analyze the multidimensional aspects of the crisis, including political, legal, social, educational limitations, gender discrimination, poverty, and economic challenges, and to propose practical and achievable solutions for overcoming the current conditions.
This conference seeks to bring together scholars, academics, political analysts, and civil society activists to present evidence-based perspectives grounded in human rights, justice, and social responsibility, and to foster a constructive and purposeful dialogue on the future of Afghanistan.
Furthermore, the conference aims to strengthen intellectual cohesion among Afghanistan elites in the diaspora by facilitating the exchange of expert opinions and exploring potential pathways toward transitioning from crisis to a stable, accountable, and sustainable political order.
Conference Structure
The conference is systematically organized into two main sections:
Section I: Academic and Educational Capacity Building
This section focuses on highlighting the role of education as a fundamental tool for individual empowerment and social development. It presents the mission, vision, and academic programs of the Canadian North Academy and emphasizes education as a key driver of sustainable development and the reduction of social inequalities.
The Academy’s specialized programs include:
- Academic English – enhancing academic-level language proficiency
- Academic Writing – teaching research methodologies and scholarly writing
- Cybersecurity – focusing on digital security and global labor market needs
- International Law – with emphasis on human rights and international legal systems
- Business Management – leadership and organizational management
- Business Accounting – financial management and accounting principles
These programs aim to provide standardized, high-quality educational opportunities for young people who have been deprived of access due to political instability, economic hardship, and social limitations. Additionally, the section highlights initiatives such as free educational programs, partnerships with non-profit organizations, and efforts to create an accessible educational system for diverse segments of Afghan society.
Section II: Crisis Analysis and Future Outlook
This section serves as the analytical and strategic core of the conference, focusing on a comprehensive and multidimensional examination of Afghanistan’s crisis and future prospects.
The current situation under Taliban rule is analyzed from various perspectives, including:
Political and Legal Dimension:
- Absence of a constitution, lack of a legitimate and accountable system, concentration of power in exclusive structures, and exclusion of citizens from political participation.
Human Rights Dimension:
- Restrictions on fundamental freedoms, systematic exclusion of women from education and public life, and widespread violations of basic human rights according to international standards.
Cultural Dimension:
- Suppression of linguistic and cultural diversity and restrictions on social identities.
- Judicial Dimension:
- Violations of fair trial principles, arbitrary detentions, and lack of judicial independence.
Economic Dimension:
- Mismanagement of natural resources, lack of transparency in the use of national assets, and widespread economic hardship.
Through these analyses, the conference aims to develop realistic, actionable pathways for addressing the crisis and shaping a more just and sustainable future for Afghanistan.
